Explore Mount Merbabu

Just a brief look at Mount Merbabu makes this volcano a twin of Mount Merapi. This dormant volcano is a popular destination for young generation of Indonesians looking for a short trip out of their cities. Despite most of foreigners prefer to hike its neighbour–Mount Merapi–Merbabu offer an amazing hiking experience. The most popular hiking trail starts in Selo, a sleepy village located between these huge volcanoes on the way from Boyolali to Magelang.

Mount Merbabu is certainly as much interesting as its neighbour, even though its last eruption took place over 200 years ago. Merbabu National Park will charm you with the beauty of its forest, wild animals such as long-tailed macaques and the gorgeous landscape dominated by Mount Merapi as well as other volcanoes of Central Java.
