Explore Tawangmangu
Tawangmangu is a small town in the East of Central Java province and the most popular resort among inhabitants of Solo, the biggest city in this part of Java. The breathtaking landscape of tea plantations, huge waterfalls located in the heart of Javanese forests as well the magnificence of a dormant volcano–Mount Lawu–make this area a perfect place for a short trip. It is worth emphasising that Mount Lawu is perceived as one of the easiest mountains in Java to hike. The peak of the volcano can be reached from several locations, such as Cemoro Sewu and Cemoro Kandang.
Despite the natural environment as well as landscape of Tawangmangu seem to be its biggest advantages, it is worth mentioning the cultural significance of this area. Close to the town there are two important complexes of the temples: Candi Centho and Candhi Sukuh. Both of them are located on the slope of Mount Lawu, however their architecture and landscape is completely different.
