Explore Mount Rinjani

The magnificent Mount Rinjani (3 726 m) dominates the landscape of Lombok island and each year it is getting more and more popular destination for both foreign and domestic tourists. This active volcano is located in the North of Lombok, in the protected area called as the Rinjani National Park. The activity of the volcano is a serious issue for local airport, however, its eruptions are not as frequent to constitute a serious threat for tourists. There are few hiking trails to the peak of this amazing mountain, however, a qualified local guide is required to hike.

It is worth pointing out that the trail is quite challenging and it takes up to 2-3 days to complete the trip. From the peak of the mountain you can admire the beauty of the caldera and Segara Anak, the crater lake located in the heart of caldera. The beauty of the mountain is appreciated not only by tourists but also by local tribes. Rinjani has a religious significance for Hindu followers as well as for Sasak tribe.
